“The Way of a Warrior is based on humanity, love, and sincerity; the heart of martial valor is true bravery, wisdom, love, and friendship.”
- Morihei Ueshiba, Founder of Aikido
Aikido Center of Lancaster provides classes in the martial art of Aikido (“The Art of Peace”) for adults. Mature teenagers (13 – 19) are welcome to join adults of all ages to participate in all classes. Beginner and advanced students take classes together. We practice traditional non-competitive Aikido. The purpose of our dojo is to provide the opportunity to train in a martial practice with traditional technique for self-defense, fitness, well-being and personal growth. Aikido is a practice that feeds the appetite of the mind, body and spirit.
What you need to start
It is recommended that all students purchase an aikido or judo-style gi (gee) or training uniform. We carry a small stock of these for your convenience. You can use other gi if you trained in other arts, with an instructor's approval.
We also recommend reading The Aikido Student Handbook, written by our sponsoring teacher, Greg O'Connor Sensei.
“Always practice the Art of Peace in a vibrant and joyful manner.”
- Morihei Ueshiba, Founder of Aikido
